Meet our Pastoral Staff!

Jim Stumbo - Senior Pastor

Jim and Ronda Stumbo met at Crown College and were married in 1973. They have 4 married children and 8 grandchildren. (Both of their sons are Alliance Pastors, also.) They have served in 2 churches, Greybull, WY for 16 years, and here in Helena for the past 19 years. Ronda is a Registered Nurse and works in an Assisted Living home. Jim has a passion to experience God and help others to do so, as well. "Many try very hard to live like Christ and give Him the credit, but that is different from the NT experience of having Christ live in me!" Jim also is a representative for CAMA Services in their Kosovo Lace Doilie Project, leads our District in establishing farms in Mexico for our C&MA churches, and is chairman of our Bible Camp, Yellowstone Alliance Adventures. In his spare time, Jim loves to hunt, fish, garden, mow lawns, and collect football cards.

Jim Howard - Associate Pastor

Jim and his wife Joyce grew up in New Jersey. They met during their college days in Illinois. Following graduate school, Jim served churches in Minnesota, Illinois, Wyoming, and Montana. Jim and Joyce have four grown children, residing in Montana, Wyoming, and Washington, D. C., and thirteen grandchildren. Their ministry here includes visitation, Bible teaching, ministry with the elders and deacons, and helping to coordinate fellowship events.

Kevin Schafer - Youth Pastor

Pastor Kevin has been a youth pastor in the Rocky Mountain District for 10 years this upcoming April. He served in Glendive, Montana at the Glendive Alliance Church for 7.5 years and has been serving in Helena since 2007.

Kevin grew up in Watertown, WI, attended Christian school his entire life, and attended Maranatha Baptist Bible College in Watertown, as well as Clearwater Christian College in Clearwater, FL. At CCC, he received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Church Ministry.

He was ordained in July of 2004, and still thoroughly enjoys working with students.

He is married to Stephanie Schafer, who attended Canadian Bible College and was trained in Christian counseling. They have three children, Kristian, Karsten, and Karmindy.
