""Don't let anyone look down on you because you are yung but set and example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith, and in purity.""
1 Timothy 4:12
Youth Group is held on Wednesday evenings during the school year from 6:30 – 8:45 p.m., and meets on Tuesday evenings at the same time during the summer months. Youth Group involves students from grade 6 through grade 12.
During a meeting the teens participate in several different activities. The evening begins by playing some sort of game, dodge ball is always a big hit in our gym, they then sing some songs, led by leaders and students, we group together for a lesson time from the Bible, and then the teens are divided into several small groups to talk about the lesson and pray together. Every 8 weeks, students and small group leaders have a “fun night” where they can go do a fun activity together on that Wednesday evening. We are blessed to have several small group leaders working with our teens. Currently they include: Jon and Jen Shoen, Stephanie Schafer, Fred and Trish Terry, Russel and Jacqui Smith, Judy Salisbury, Karin Thompson, Josh Wisler, and Jonathan Weaver. Katie Loveland works with our teen worship team and does a wonderful job!
Our lessons this year have been centered on the subject of apologetics. Apologetics means “to know what you believe and how to defend it.” We are very encouraged to see many of our students sharing their faith and bringing their friends to youth group.
Several activities are also provided throughout the year. Ski trips, hayrides, concerts, events such as Acquire the Fire and 30 hour famine, our annual auction, National Day of Prayer rallies, paintballing, Creation Fest ’09, as well as our summer missions trip or youth rally include some of the fun activities that are held.
This summer we are planning a trip to Life 2010 in Louisville, Kentucky. This is an event that is held within The Christian and Missionary Alliance every year and is for students going into 9th grade through those graduating 12th grade. The dates of this conference are July 6-10, 2010. Students are encouraged to register as soon as possible. More information will follow.
