Serve

And Jesus called them to him and said to them, “You know that those who are considered rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their great ones exercise authority over them. But it shall not be so among you. But whoever would be great among you must be your servant, and whoever would be first among you must be slave of all. For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” (Mark 10:42-45)

Why do we serve?

We serve not to be served or seen, but because Christ came to serve and be a ransom for the many. And in our serving, we share the hope of the Gospel (Rom. 10:14-17, 1 Cor. 9:19-23).

So if there is any encouragement in Christ, any comfort from love, any participation in the Spirit, any affection and sympathy, complete my joy by being of the same mind, having the same love, being in full accord and of one mind.

Phil. 2:1-2

Where can we serve?

You can serve the Lord God in many ways. Jesus commands, and He tells His disciples to be a witness both locally and throughout all the world (Matt. 28:18-20, Acts 1:6-8).

Your church

Your local church is an excellent place to serve. The church will help equip you for effective service both to God's people and to the world.
